Chris and Jesse Cavill
Chris Cavill is an acclaimed indie-folk artist whose evocative songwriting, soaring vocals, and unique on-stage chemistry with his sons creates a live experience that is both deeply personal and universally moving. Over the past two years, Chris has been making serious waves on the Australian music scene, captivating audiences with heartfelt performances and a string of powerful releases. His momentum has seen him grace the stages of many of Australia’s most beloved festivals, including Blues at Bridgetown (2024), Cygnet Folk Festival (2024), Good Gumnuts (2025), Yackandandah Folk Festival (2023), and the forthcoming Queenscliff Music Festival (Nov 2025).
Known for crafting songs that explore resilience, change, and self-discovery, Chris’s work strikes a powerful chord with listeners of all ages. His 2025 LP, The Wonder Years, builds on the success of his 2021 tribute album Lionheart, delivering a rich, reflective collection of songs that celebrate life’s transitions, family bonds, and the quiet beauty in everyday moments. Later in 2025, Chris will release Dreamer—a special and deeply personal EP featuring the singles Candlelight, This Promise, and Dreamer. The record is his first fully self-produced work, created in his own home- studio—established for the first time in his career—and offers an intimate glimpse into his inner world, weaving themes of hope, legacy, and vulnerability.

But the path to this moment has been anything but straightforward.
In the years prior to 2020, Chris had stepped away from his musical pursuits. Life had taken a different shape—he and his wife Rosie were raising young children, had bought and renovated a house, and Chris was working full-time as a primary school teacher. Music, once central to his identity, was gently placed on hold as new priorities took over. Though the creative spark remained, it quietly flickered in the background, waiting for the right time to return.
That moment came during the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amid the sudden change of pace and uncertainty, Chris found himself reconnecting with songwriting—not just as a creative outlet, but as a form of healing. His father, who had passed away in 2017 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, had been a guiding force in his life. In honour of that legacy, Chris began writing and recording a tribute album—Lionheart. It was a deeply emotional and personal project, offering a way to process grief and reflect on the impact his father had on him.
Released in November 2021, Lionheart marked a powerful return to music. It reopened doors, reconnecting Chris with the Australian folk and roots scene and placing him back on stages across the country. The album’s raw honesty and emotive storytelling struck a chord with audiences, and soon Chris was touring again, playing intimate venues and gradually returning to the festival circuit. With each show, he reclaimed a part of himself.
But the most unexpected and beautiful evolution in Chris’s music came from within his own family. What started as a spontaneous inclusion of his eldest son Jesse during a live set quickly grew into something remarkable. There was no plan—just a moment of sharing. But something clicked. Jesse’s natural rhythm, quiet confidence, and joyful presence brought a whole new dimension to Chris’s performances.

The connection between father and son was wholesome and electric, and audiences felt it. Their musical chemistry added something profoundly special to the live experience—something rooted in love, legacy, and shared passion. Before long, Jesse became a regular part of the live set, holding his own alongside his dad and winning over crowds with his presence and talent.
Their collaboration reached a new milestone in March 2025 with the release of Hold, an original single performed by Chris and Jesse. The track is an emotional exploration of support, connection, and the unspoken bond between father and son. It follows the release of their touching rendition of Neil Young’s Old Man, which dropped in January 2023 and was widely praised for its warmth and sincerity.
As their musical journey grew, so too did the family involvement. Chris’s youngest son, Levi, soon began joining the stage as a guest vocalist—and an energetic one at that. With his infectious joy, spontaneous dancing, and fearless spirit, Levi brings a lighthearted charm to the stage that audiences can’t help but love. Whether he’s belting out a line or bouncing to the beat, Levi’s presence completes the Cavill family story on stage.

Together Chris, Jesse, and Levi offer something rare in today’s music landscape: an intergenerational performance rooted in authenticity and connection. It’s not just about the songs— it’s about the experience. Now becoming a regular at Australia’s most beloved blues and folk festivals, Chris has carved out a unique space for he and his family in the music world.
