A Journey of Say Yes and Self-Discovery
From a young age, Alexis was known for her adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences. Her early years were marked by a passion for sports—initially as a competitive gymnast representing Mornington Peninsula, and later as a gymnastics coach. Her diverse athletic pursuits, coupled with her love for writing and literature, laid the foundation for her creative and disciplined mindset.
Despite having no family or friends with musical backgrounds, Alexis’s natural stage presence and captivating voice set her apart early on. She loved performing at school assemblies and plays, discovering her comfort and confidence on stage at a young age.
Finding Her Voice in Music
It wasn’t until she was 15 that Alexis’s musical journey truly took shape. Inspired by her love for live concerts and bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, she volunteered to be the singer in her school’s pop band—despite the school’s limited music program. Her performances ignited a passion for live music and songwriting, prompting her to teach herself piano and guitar to craft her own sound.
Turning her poetry and creative writing into lyrics, Alexis found catharsis in composing music that reflected her evolving identity. Her determination led her to seek out band mates who could bring her songs to life.

At 16, Alexis met Otis Walsh, and their immediate chemistry fuelled their songwriting and local gigging efforts. Their relentless pursuit of performance—often traveling from the Peninsula to Melbourne—helped them hone their craft and build a dedicated following. Balancing school responsibilities with late-night gigs, Alexis demonstrated remarkable resilience and focus, achieving top academic results while pursuing her passion.
Following the departure of initial band members, Alexis and Otis joined forces with Alyssa Day and Orlando Oakley. The current lineup quickly bonded over shared musical ambitions and a love for their local scene. When not performing, the band members can often be found supporting each other at gigs or enjoying downtime together.
A Band on the Rise
Fuelled by determination, Alexis and her band have dedicated themselves to elevating their craft. Their debut EP, “Before I Forget”, features six tracks that blend themes of nostalgia and resilience—drawing from her early songwriting days at age 15 to her recent compositions. The EP has garnered significant attention, including radio interviews, a memorable launch show, and opening slots for emerging acts like CLAMM, Iluka, Cheapskate, Public House, and Zombeaches.
Beyond Music: A Life of Adventure and Passion
Alexis’s journey extends far beyond music. Her adventurous spirit has led her to participate in projects such as house building in Cambodia, exploring the islands of Antarctica, and even attempting a career as a professional basketballer—until a broken ankle shifted her focus. She also delved into radio presenting and continues to seek new opportunities, embodying her lifelong motto of saying “yes” to whatever comes her way.
Despite her busy schedule, music remains her true passion—a source of love, inspiration, and connection. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance, curiosity, and embracing the unknown.
