From the rolling hills of Victoria, Australia, comes a voice that is turning heads and capturing hearts—Anya Alchemy. Her name may be new to the music scene, but her talent is anything but novice. Anya’s journey is one of passion, grit, and an unwavering commitment to her craft, and it’s only just beginning.

Growing up, Anya was immersed in a community where storytelling was a way of life, and it wasn’t long before she found her own voice through music. Anya’s home was filled with the sounds of her mother’s singing and father’s bass playing. Around the house they played everything from The Chicks and Missy Higgins to Black Sabbath and Aretha Franklin. This diverse musical landscape laid the foundation for what would become her unique sound—a blend of alt-pop and folk with hints of hip-hop and country.

As a child, Anya was fascinated by music and would sit for hours trying to memorise the lyrics to ‘I got a feeling’ by the Black-Eyed Peas and ‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath.

“Music is so crazy to me. Like, the fact that one song can connect with so many different people, from different walks of life, with different perspectives is a very special thing.” says Anya

With the help of her stepdad, Anya developed not only her vocals but also her guitar and piano skills. Anya recalls practicing ‘Beside You’ by 5 Seconds of Summer repeatedly until the tips of her fingers were permanently cracked. Whilst learning the guitar, Anya began to write her own songs to the three chords she had learnt at the time – this soon created her deep love for songwriting.

Anya’s songwriting reflects her experiences and the world around her. Anya draws inspiration from everyday life, her personal battles, and the stories of those she meets along the way. Her lyrics are raw and relatable, speaking to themes of love, heartbreak and identity. There’s a certain authenticity to her music that feels like a breath of fresh air in an industry often dominated by polished, over-produced tracks. “I write from the heart,” she says simply. “If it doesn’t feel real to me, I don’t write it.”

Despite her natural talent, Anya knew that breaking into the music industry would be no easy feat. She started by honing her skills, performing at local venues and open mic nights, where she quickly developed a reputation for her powerful live performances. Her ability to connect with the audience, to make them feel every word she sings, is a rare gift.

“I used to be so nervous performing on stage, I would dread it. Now I think performing live is where I feel most at home,” Anya shares. “There’s just no comparable feeling to being on stage and sharing all of your deepest secrets and insecurities with a room full of strangers and feeling them connect to what you’re saying.”

Opening for established artists like the Pierce Brothers and Boo Seeka, Anya learned the ropes of the live circuit. She also played at festivals such as Hello Sunshine and Rochella, where her electrifying performances won over new fans. Each show became an opportunity to refine her craft and build her following, slowly but surely.

With a growing fan base and a repertoire of original songs, Anya knew it was time to take the next step—recording her music. In the second half of 2024, she plans to start releasing the songs that she has held so close to her heart and establish herself as a recording artist.

“I’m really excited about this next chapter, and obviously very nervous,” she says. “It’s been such a long road with these songs and I’m just hoping that my gut instincts are right and that my people connect with them.”

With help from producer stepbrother, Jay Ferriere, the duo are crafting a sound that defies categorisation, seamlessly weaving together diverse influences to create a sound that is as refreshing as it is unforgettable.

As Anya prepares to release her music to the world, there’s a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation surrounding her. Anya looks forward to a promising future. Those who have seen her perform live know that she’s an artist with something special, a voice that can soar and a presence that can captivate. But beyond her talent, it’s her authenticity and commitment to her craft that truly set her apart.

Anya Alchemy is more than just a musician; she’s a storyteller, a connector, a voice for those who need one. Her songs speak to the human experience in a way that’s both relatable and profound. She has the ability to make you feel as though she’s singing directly to you, telling your story through her music.

In a world where the music industry is often criticized for being formulaic and impersonal, Anya’s approach is refreshingly different. She’s not interested in chasing trends or fitting into a mold. Instead, she’s focused on creating music that’s true to who she is and that resonates with her listeners. “I just want to make music that feels honest and real,” she says. “If I can do that, then I’ve done my job.”

Looking ahead, Anya is focused on continuing to grow as an artist and connect with her audience. She has big plans for the future, including live performances, new music releases, and a debut EP down the line. But for now, she’s taking it one step at a time, savouring each moment and staying true to her vision.

Anya Alchemy is a name to remember, a voice to listen to, and an artist to watch. As she continues to carve out her place in the music world, there’s no doubt that she will leave an indelible mark. And for those who have been lucky enough to witness her journey from the start, it’s clear that this is only the beginning.
