The Story Behind Her Fearless Heart
For Liz, Her Fearless Heart wasn’t born out of a business plan or strategic blueprint. It started from her own raw experiences—trying to understand and make sense of her pain as a young girl. Growing up, Liz often felt like she was swinging between extremes—feeling intensely alive one moment, and completely hollow the next. At the time, she didn’t understand why. The traumas she endured weren’t openly talked about, and because of that silence, she believed they shouldn’t have affected her so deeply. But they were. And Liz knew, deep down, that she didn’t feel okay.
Searching for Safety and Connection
Like many young people navigating difficult emotions, Liz sought safety and connection wherever she could find it. She found comfort in teachers who accepted her just as she was, without trying to fix her. Those moments of acceptance became some of the most meaningful experiences of her childhood. They taught her that sometimes, people don’t need solutions or advice—they simply need a safe space to be themselves.
Music also became her refuge. Through headphones and speakers, she discovered artists whose lyrics seemed to articulate feelings she couldn’t yet express. Songs became companions during her hardest days, and lyrics offered a sense of understanding that felt elusive elsewhere. Long before she understood concepts like trauma or mental health, Liz understood what it felt like to hear someone put into words what she thought only she carried.
The Birth of Her Fearless Heart
In 2008, while still trying to understand her own feelings, Liz created an online blog she named Her Fearless Heart. The name was inspired by a song by a local Australian artist, and she wrote under the pseudonym "Eve," inspired by the word “grieve,” which encapsulated the weight she carried at the time. The blog was initially just a place to write—an outlet for difficult days, complicated emotions, and the music that helped her survive. She wasn’t trying to start a movement; she was simply seeking to understand herself.
Little did she realize that her personal reflections would resonate with others, sparking something much bigger than she could have imagined.

From Personal Reflection to Community Support
One day, someone shared their own story with Liz. Moved, she asked if she could publish it anonymously, hoping it might help someone else feel less alone. Then another story arrived. And another. What started as a small personal blog quickly grew into a community—strangers connecting through shared stories of pain, hope, and resilience.
People from around the world began sharing their experiences, offering encouragement and validation. For many, it was the first time they could openly speak about mental health struggles or grief without fear. For others, it was the first realization they weren’t alone. Her Fearless Heart became a movement rooted in hope, connection, and resilience—creating a safe space where conversations about mental health were no longer taboo.
Building a Community of Hope and Awareness
As the community expanded, Liz moved Her Fearless Heart from MySpace to Facebook, launching awareness campaigns and community initiatives focused on reducing stigma and encouraging open dialogue. While these efforts started small, their impact was far-reaching.
The core message remained: no one should face their struggles alone. Whether through online discussions, storytelling campaigns, or community events, Her Fearless Heart was about genuine connection—showing that healing often begins with a single conversation or shared story.

Giving a Voice Through Publishing
In 2014, Liz took a significant step by publishing a book of personal stories, inspiring quotes, and coping strategies contributed by community members. There was no big publishing deal or marketing plan—just a belief that these stories needed to be heard. The book embodied the mission of Her Fearless Heart: amplifying voices, creating bonds through shared experiences, and demonstrating that hope persists even in our darkest moments.
Personal Growth and Healing
During this time, Liz’s own life began to shift. She studied social work and completed an Honours degree, gaining insights that helped her understand her past and her own invisible wounds. She started recognizing that many people carried similar struggles, and she began prioritizing her own healing journey—applying her own advice to herself.
Transitioning from Supporter to Practitioner
As the years went on, Her Fearless Heart became quieter. Many community members moved forward with their lives, some no longer needing the support they once sought. Liz saw this as a sign of success—her goal was never dependence but empowerment.
In 2020, Liz began working professionally as a counsellor. Her experience supporting others, combined with her training and personal journey, shaped her approach to mental health support. In 2024, she took the next step and opened her own private practice—Her Fearless Heart—dedicated to helping others find their strength.

A Continuing Mission of Support and Connection
Today, Her Fearless Heart is a vibrant blend of professional counselling, advocacy, community education, and lived experience. It remains rooted in the belief that every story matters and that healing begins when people feel heard and supported.
What started as a young girl’s search for understanding has grown into a movement—helping others find hope, connection, and resilience amid life’s challenges.
Her Fearless Heart’s mission remains the same: to create a safe space where no one has to face their struggles alone. Because sometimes, all it takes is one story, one conversation, or one act of kindness to change a life.
