THE STORY BEHIND JIMMY’S. Read more Jimmy’s Foundation

“Young people attending our programs are often living in difficult family circumstances. Personal and observed trauma, family violence, generational unemployment, social isolation, and family history of mental illness can place young people at higher risk of developing mental health problems themselves. By providing a safe nurturing environment, activities, and initiatives to help build coping strategies and resilience, we aim to help young people reveal the very best of themselves and open pathways to opportunities that highlight their unique qualities and abilities,”

says Jeanette Horsley, Manager, Jimmy’s Youth Wellbeing Sanctuary

Jimmy's is a purpose-built facility designed to accommodate a range of therapeutic and integrated well-being practices and activities intentionally designed to improve mental health outcomes for young people.

Phycological architectural principles were used by Melbourne architect’s co-op studio throughout the design of the building. This creates a calming response that promotes positive wellbeing outcomes.

Jimmy’s is a haven for young people to connect with trained, qualified staff, volunteers, and mentors and offers a unique, holistic, and integrated approach to improving mental, physical and emotional health outcomes for young people. Particular focus is aimed at fostering the individual strengths and positive attributes of young people, so that they become strong, resilient members of their communities.
