Rach found herself in a corporate job at one of the big four banks straight out of high school, skipping the university route entering the workforce. She soon realised that her job didn’t bring much enjoyment. In fact, it was quite the opposite of what she had envisioned for herself. Rach no longer wanted to wake up feeling miserable, so she decided to leave her bank job. She knew there was something greater out there for her.
Rach grew up doing Little Athletics from the age of five and continued until the age of seventeen. Sport and fitness were always a big part of her life. Rach also had an enormous passion for helping others. Throughout her primary school years Rach volunteered at an aged care facility near her school and spent many hours with her best friend chatting to the elderly people in the nursing home. Volunteering her time to keep them company provided Rach with a sense of empathy and care towards others.
But, trying to find her place in the world, where she belonged in her career, and how she would flourish on a personal level, took time.
The training workouts that Rach enjoyed doing in her parent’s garage as a teenager, and the passion she had for helping people, eventuated into Zeal.
In 2019 Zeal Training became a registered business. Rach was juggling three jobs at the time to maintain an income as well as investing into her new business venture.
Zeal was born and the name itself reinforced exactly what Rach had always wanted to do even from a young age. “Great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective”.
In the weeks that followed Rach decided to take a leap of faith and quit her jobs. She put all her energy into Zeal and was truly able to start achieving the mission she had set for herself.
Rach set up a boutique space in her parent’s garage amidst lockdown where she was able to help over a hundred females start their health and fitness journey.
Zeal training became more than just health and fitness. It was so much deeper than anything at face value. Rach witnessed females struggling with confidence, body image issues, binge/restrict cycles, mental health issues and much more.
In the first few months of starting up her new business adventure a Global Pandemic put the world on hold. Just as Rach was finally getting her feet off the ground with a solid influx of clients coming through to train and workout in her gym space, she was forced to seize all operations.
With time to spare during extensive Melbourne lockdowns, Rach set upon time working hard to build a solid foundation for her business. Realising that Zeal would be so much more than just a personal training studio, Rach delved deeper into a broader and more inclusive approach to her training methodology.
Fast forward to November 2023, and Rach now operates as both a personal trainer and online coach at Zeal full time. In her own home she offers face-to-face training in a boutique space for females to come to each week. Not only do her clients get great results, more importantly she supports and encourages them to focus on self-care. Rachel believes that your internal wellbeing and positive mindset can be a key factor in making changes to your overall health and wellbeing.
Zeal’s expansion to the online world and evolving face to face training has seen hundreds of females completely transform their lives and make lasting change within.
Rach has worked hard at creating a business from the ground up. She is always driven by her passion and dedication, wanting to make meaningful change in the lives of her Zeal family. Although she has seen both the reward and stress of running a business, on a personal level, Rach has also been challenged by her own internal struggles.
Rach has always been an individual that strives for perfection and was extremely goal oriented from a young age. This can be both a negative and positive experience when running a business and in life itself.
Rach always knew she was someone who would overthink things and at times this made life difficult. She always wanted everything to be perfect and would typically paint this as a good trait as it allowed her to be extremely focused on ensuring her business would be a success. But, after starting her business, the same overwhelming thoughts, and feelings just like when she was growing up, resurfaced. This time if felt so much more challenging than ever before. What Rach didn’t realise was that all her emotions and feelings had been building up for years. In 2022, post covid, and after experiencing health issues, Rach was diagnosed with anxiety. It affected Rach’s mental wellbeing, and her physical symptoms also took a toll on her body. Rach’s life was completely turned on its head and she would always feel anxious to leave her home.
Rach knew she needed to work on herself and deep down believed that she had the ability to improve her situation and how she was feeling about herself. Focusing on wanting to feel better, she knew that this was just another step in her life’s journey. Rach took the initiative to seek help. She wanted to find out why she was experiencing ongoing anxiety and why it kept reoccurring. Rach and her perfectionism mindset meant she was going to do the work to ‘fix’ her health issue.
Rach had always been the voice for others who were dealing with any internal struggles encouraging them to talk to someone or to look inwards and turn to self-care, but she now needed to uncover that for herself.
Rach set out on a self-development journey which has not only shaped her into who she is today but reinforces her mission that it wasn’t just to help others but to also help herself. Through breathwork, meditation, therapy and being open and vulnerable, Rach was able to find relief as well as get to know herself more than ever before.
Although this period in her life surrounded her with a lot of sadness and fear it was also the turning point that allowed her to step into herself, wholeheartedly. Utilising all the tools she has learnt helped Rach in her pursuit to overcome health issues. Over time, Rach has seen positive outcomes on a personal and professional level.
Zeal has flourished into a successful business, and you can see that positive transformation when witnessing Rach confidently expressing herself via social media, in person and online to her clients. Her mission is to always maintain a level of professionalism.
All the setbacks and challenges that Rach has experienced, and all the growth and learning she has done, have been the catalyst to better understand herself. To embrace being yourself is one of the things you get to control in life.
Through business coaching and self-development Rach makes it her mission to show up authentically and stay true to who she has always been.
Zeal continues to reach more individuals not only locally but interstate through Rach’s dance moves and authentic videos of her being her true self. Who would have thought that the positive change in her, and the growth of Zeal would come from letting her walls down, whilst also finding ways to build them back up!
Rach’s goal of continuing to expand her Zeal family is a priority and her vision for future business ventures is always evolving. Her mission to help and support as many females as she can unlock their full potential, internally and externally, remains her focus.
