Elizabeth (Beth) Steer and Dan Swan's serendipitous meeting through the MP Music Network marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration and a shared passion for music. Dan Swan's generous gesture of providing the No. 1 Prize of a day's recording in Capel Sound Studios not only showcased his support for local talent but also highlighted the studio's commitment to fostering emerging artists in the Mornington Peninsula.

The joint victory of Marley Smokes and Ocean Pulse in the competition underscored the abundance of talent within the local music scene. Beth and Dan, fuelled by their discussions about music and their shared mantra of "make me believe you," recognized the need to nurture and amplify the voices of these burgeoning talents.

Capel Sound Studios, with its team of dedicated producers known affectionately as the Soundys, played a pivotal role in fine-tuning the sound and maximizing the potential of the artists' performances. Dan Swan's expertise and his partner Nat’s impeccable taste in music further enriched the collaborative environment, ensuring that every recording session was not only productive but also creatively fulfilling.

Building on the success of the previous year's competition, Beth and Dan decided to focus this year's event on bands, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by solo artists and duos. By expanding the competition to include bands exclusively, they aimed to provide a level playing field and a platform for these musical collectives to shine.

The upcoming Battle of the Bands, scheduled to run over July and August, promises to be an electrifying example of local talent.
