For as long as she could remember, Rochelle, the founder of Curate U, a creative wellness brand, felt like she was living a double life. By day, she was the ambitious creative director climbing the ladder — designing new brands and products, nailing client presentations, and showing up in all the ways a ‘put-together’ woman in her 30s was supposed to.

But behind the scenes? She was being guided by numerology, collecting crystals, and pulling oracle cards for answers.

Thing was — no one really knew about that side of her.

“I was good at hiding my spiritual side,” Rochelle admits now. “I thought people wouldn’t get it. That it made me too ‘woo woo,’ so I kept those parts of me tucked away in favour of being the ‘cool, creative girl’ who had her career sorted. Over time, though, it left me feeling disconnected, unfulfilled, and a little bit lost.”

The Book That Began Her Spiritual Path

Back in 2011, Rochelle’s sister passed her a bag of hand-me-downs from a lady at work. Inside was a small book with a number 6 on the front. She didn’t think much of it at the time — until she started reading.

“I couldn’t believe how this book knew so much about me. My quirks, my passions, things about myself no one else would even pick up on. It gave me so much insight into who and why I am me. I was obsessed,” Rochelle recalls.

That book marked the very first step in her spiritual journey. Numerology made her feel seen in a way nothing else ever had. It offered clarity, a sense of purpose, and sparked a curiosity about how our souls choose their path in this lifetime.

But growing up in a world where spirituality wasn’t always understood, Rochelle learned early how to shrink those parts of herself. She hid away the healer, the intuitive, the cosmic dreamer.

And when burnout eventually arrived (as it tends to when you’re pretending to be someone you’re not), Rochelle was forced to pause. To get quiet. To finally ask herself what she actually wanted — and who she really was beneath everything she thought she was supposed to be.

An Awakening in Vietnam

It wasn’t until a spontaneous trip to Vietnam that everything truly shifted.

“I was deep in burnout mode. The kind where you don’t even realise how exhausted you are until you finally slow down,” she reflects. Craving something familiar yet soul- nourishing, she booked a trip back to Vietnam — a place she’d visited in her early 20s that had left a mark on her heart.

“That country humbled me the first time I went. The culture, the people, the simplicity cracked me open in ways I didn’t expect. I wanted to reconnect with that version of me.”

This time, Rochelle felt drawn to a wellness retreat — one that, as fate would have it, included daily art therapy workshops. What she didn’t realise then was that it would become the catalyst for everything to come.

“I’d forgotten how freeing it was to create without rules, without overthinking or chasing perfection,” she says. “To slow down, tune in, ask myself how I was really feeling, what I truly needed — and let those answers reveal themselves through colour, collage and creative expression.”

Bit by bit, something inside her shifted. She realised: this is it. This is what makes me feel like me.

And so, the seed of Curate U was planted.

Not from a carefully mapped-out five-year plan, but from a deep, undeniable knowing that there were so many other women out there feeling exactly like she had — disconnected, stuck in hustle mode, playing small, and craving a safe space where they could be unapologetically themselves.

When the Stars Aligned

While studying to become a certified art therapy practitioner, Rochelle also enrolled in an astrology birth chart masterclass. That deep dive into her cosmic blueprint unlocked everything.

“I remember looking at my chart and thinking, of course this is who I’m meant to be. Of course this is what I’m here to do.”

That clarity gave her permission to finally embrace the parts of herself she’d spent years hiding away. She realised she wasn’t meant to just brand other people’s visions — she was meant to help women connect to their essence, align with their soul’s path, and curate businesses and lives that actually felt like them.

At the same time, Rochelle began exploring more embodied, energetic practices — learning the art of manifestation and how to shift her inner frequency to attract people, opportunities and a life that resonated with her soul.

That led her to become certified in somatic chakra balancing — a beautiful, body-based practice that clears energetic blocks and aligns your nervous system with your desires. She discovered how powerful it was to combine energy work with creative art therapy, not just shifting mindset consciously but moving what’s stuck in the body and the subconscious too.

“When I started blending all these practices — numerology, astrology, manifestation, art therapy and chakra healing — my life completely changed. Dream clients found me. Collaborations landed. And for the first time, I felt like I was living in alignment instead of endlessly chasing it.”

Owning Her Magic (And Attracting the Good Stuff)

Now that Rochelle is fully owning her spiritual, intuitive, creative side — life feels lighter. And as it turns out, the moment she stopped hiding and started showing up as her whole, authentic, slightly mystical self, beautiful people and aligned opportunities began flowing in.

Like-minded souls, collaborative offers, unexpected events, women messaging her saying things like, “Omg, I’ve been looking for something like this” — all of it began happening as soon as she stopped trying to be someone else.

Turns out, being unapologetically yourself really is a magnet for magic.
