Psycho-esoteric Yowie Phunk monks, Muddy Lemons manifest out of the blind eternities to worship at the roots of the Dinosaur Tree, to liberate the meanderthals from the Gigachad and lead them up the mountain through the 4 ancient gates of spirit on the trail of the two-handed banjo.

Jimmi Magpie spent many years atop the mountain reading the emerald tablet in search of the true wisdom of Hermes Trismegistus. His experiments with alchemy and study of Pythagorean literature led him to uncover the cosmic egg as the revelation of truth; as above, so below. Life on the mountain was a sweet, blissful existence. It was nothing like the swamp which Jimmi had conquered in an earlier existence to become king of the monkeys. Before ensconcing himself on the mountain in hermetic solitude, he had transformed the swamp into a magical forest of mushrooms that gave the monkeys great joy and libido. However, the king of the monkeys was aware of a greater calling. Human anxieties remained effervescent, imbued within the air atop the mountain.

In his quest to discover divine wisdom, he came across the Daoist sage, Mojo Hum. Mojo was a traveller from a different astral plane who understood reality as the spoke of the wheel, ever turning amidst endless chaos. His chariot was a 1999 Toyota Tarago that carried him across the vast plains of the Nullarbor. One day the planets fated that Mojo would meet Jimmi, and their knowledge would combine to form a potent new form of truth. In considering that doing nothing manifests as the purest form of doing something, the two sages realized that this is the only way psychic awakening truly proceeds. Yet, in doing nothing, it became impossible to overcome the dialectical nature of oppression as a way towards spiritual and metaphysical liberation. They knew that evil abounded within the world and that there was work to be done.

Years of transcendental meditation prepared the two for the epic struggle against the all- encompassing evil, the master of dirty thoughts and impure ideology; the Gigachad. The Gigachad was a mythical beast, capable of decimating entire civilizations with their malicious desires. Knowing that all suffering stems from desire, the two sages waged an epic war against the Gigachad. But they knew that they could not defeat this monstrous being alone.

Their struggle against innate evil led them to the leader of the meanderthals, Franco Rhythmus. Franco was a wise man who had spent decades cultivating a peaceful, prosperous civilisation in Frankston South. He had led his tribe of meanderthals with diligence and great courage for years. Wealth and strength were second nature to Franco, who once fought off a tribe of drunkards through the sheer power of his drumming alone. Franco knew he had to join the war against the Gigachad, an incarnation of pure demonic hate. Franco downed tools and took the psychedelic pledge of allegiance. With the power of the meanderthals alongside them, and the thunderous driving rhythms of the psychedelic gravy train blues, the group of Yowie Phunk monks, Muddy Lemons was complete.

The defeat of the Gigachad and the liberation of the meanderthals led the sages back up the mountain where they relaxed amidst the kaleidoscopic haze of nightshade and daydreams. A righteous montage of their battle played as closed eyed visuals behind the enlightened orbs of the Muddy Lemons. Satiated with the fruits of their valour, they dedicated their lives to worshipping at the roots of the Dinosaur Tree. This tree represented the christ oil of all that was noble and righteous, and the three warriors eagerly suckled at the sacred secretion of the tree. Yet, the trio knew that this was just the beginning.

The two-handed banjo was yet to be found. Muddy Lemons knew that the discovery of the mythic instrument would guide them to even greater, more profound truths and discoveries. Knowledge reigns supreme and a million eternities abound. The group knew they must follow the path towards freakier, cosmic realities. Thus, the trio decided to continue their journey towards divine wisdom, towards true total unknowing and towards the discovery of all that is infinite and within.

Today, Muddy Lemons exists between the realm of knowing and unknowing. Within the cracks of this limbo, these Yowie Phunk monks craft music that explores a higher state of being. There is no ‘this’ without a ‘that,’ there is no night without day, no dog without man, no ghost without spirit. The songs that manifest from Muddy Lemons originate between these disparate ideas, thoughts and words. They represent a portal into a new world, an existence that does not yet exist. Within the seven heavens of reality and the fourteen realms of hell, music abounds. Muddy Lemons are not musicians, they are travellers who bring forth treasures from between these broken expanses of life and non-life.
