Topic- Songwriting is Flavia's diary and you can hear it not only in her lyrics but also in the way she sings with a light, fragile tone and heartfelt emotion.

Flavia is a singer songwriter born and raised in Berlin. Her mum is Italian from Rome, and a lot of her family still live there. She comes from a very creative and artistic family and her mum is an artist in her own right. Some of Flavia’s aunts and her grandma also love singing in choirs and she was always encouraged and supported by her family to pursue music.

Flavia was always interested in music and spent hours as a kid listening to the sounds, lyrics and melodies that music offered her as comfort.

At 4 years of age Flavia began to play piano. When she turned 10, she also learnt to sing adding another element to her creative musical flair. At 16 years of age, she also started teaching herself how to play guitar and began writing her own songs.

The deep connection that Flavia has to her inner self and staying in touch with her emotions became the catalyst for her songwriting. Expressing herself is like therapy and her experiences, thoughts and feelings about life, love and loss, friendships and insecurities, are heard in her lyrics.

It became apparent to Flavia and her family that she never wants to stop sharing her stories through music. Her biggest wish is to make a change in the world by inspiring others to find peace and comfort in her words. Her songs are emotional, raw and honest. The production elements of her music focus on finding time and space, to be calm and at peace. The instrumentation use of reverb, delay and natural sounds is heard in every tune. Songwriting is her diary, and you can hear it not only in her lyrics but also in the way she sings with a light, fragile tone and heartfelt emotion.

The second biggest part of Flavia’s life has always been traveling. Seeing the world was always something Flavia was passionate about and at 15 years of age she spent 6 months in Miami going to school. She wanted to experience living an American lifestyle.

After she graduated from high school at 18 years of age, she packed her bags again and left for India. She lived there for 6 months teaching German and exploring the country and all its beauty.

When Flavia came back from her travels, she felt closer to her music than ever before. Being alone for so long bought her closer to herself and the core of who she was becoming continued to be expressed in her music. Releasing emotions in her songwriting is where she finds time to be at peace with herself.

Taking her passion for music to the next level was important so she decided to study songwriting. Flavia also wanted to structure her business professionally, so she upskilled herself by learning the production side of songwriting as well as the administration side of things. With the support of her tutors and peers, she found the passion and motivation she needed and in 2022 and released her first single called “Enemy”.  In 2023 she also released her first 4 song EP titled “The Middle of Nowhere in Me”

The songs are a collection of self-exploration, life experiences, her personality and the insecurities she has about herself, life and being left alone.

Flavia has continued to release multiple singles. She keeps writing and is becoming more and more passionate about her songwriting every day.

In Berlin Flavia always felt like her music wasn’t being appreciated. The trending techno scene of Berlin was a world away from what Flavia wanted to express in her music, so she moved to Australia after finishing her bachelor’s and is keen to explore and get to know the home of so many amazing Indie Folk Artists that have inspired her writing time and time again, like Angus & Julia stone, Ziggy Alberts, Hollow Coves, Xavier Rudd and many more.

Although travelling alone can be hard and lonely, Flavia is finding a lot of comfort in making music with fellow musicians in Australia. She is busking on the streets surrounded by lovely people who stop to enjoy her music.

“You can feel that there is so much appreciation for the arts in this country. At gigs and open mic nights there is total silence in the room. People seem to enjoy the music so much more in Australia” says Flavia

It’s been almost a year that Flavia has been living in Australia and during that time she has been recording some of her favourite songs. The process of recording just flowed and finally, everything began to align allowing Flavia to create beautiful music. After years of exploring various genres and experimenting with different techniques, she has finally found her unique style of production and writing. This breakthrough has sparked a newfound sense of confidence, allowing her to create art that truly resonates with both her and her audience. Her personal and professional growth and continuous self-exploration is heard in her music. Her continuous life experiences serve as a wellspring of inspiration, driving her writing and enabling her to evolve artistically. This dynamic growth is reflected in her original music, where each song encapsulates her personal journey and creative expression.

Outside of the recording studio Flavia has been trying to get herself recognised as part of the live music scene in Melbourne. Being relatively new in a foreign country makes it a little harder to find the right connections in the music industry but nevertheless she continues to show up playing at small significant events like “Pull up for Mental Health” that was held in October 2024.

Flavia continues to flourish and is a natural extension of her creativity, The result is a rich tapestry of sound that showcases her versatility while staying true to her artistic vision. Whether she is busking in our local communities, recording in a studio or writing songs, with every new city she explores, her excitement grows. She is determined to weave the essence of the world into her music, transforming her experiences into art and with no map guiding her journey; she simply follows her heart, trusting that each step takes her closer to understanding herself and the beautiful complexities of life. She continues her travels, an eternal wanderer with a heart full of dreams, pen in hand, ready to write the next chapter of her life.
