In 2020, after the challenges of the pandemic, it was time to embrace new beginnings. Rose Clemente had a fresh idea and decided to embark on a new chapter in her life. A passionate and vibrant hairdresser, post opening her new salon in Rye she started forming new friendships through her clientele.Life isn’t just about work, it is also about shared experiences, fun and interaction,” said Rose

So, what did she do?

Rose decided to bring something special to the Peninsula. Determined to enrich the community, Rose envisioned a vibrant space that would foster creativity and connection, a place where people could come together, connect, and celebrate their Italian heritage.

With the support of her friends, she began organising Italian nights at Zero 95 in Dromana. These events encouraged guests to wear Italian colours, and the nights were filled with delicious food, drinks, and games. What started as a fun dinner quickly grew into something more—a way for people to network, develop friendships, and embrace Italian culture.

In 2024, Rose felt it was time to challenge herself further. She wanted to create something more than just a dinner gathering so she embarked on organising an event to mark the end of the year. After many months of planning, and with the help of her amazing friends, Rose’s vision came to life.

The end-of-year party was a huge success! There were 250 guests who gathered at Verve Bar in Rye for an unforgettable evening. The night was filled with laughter, great food, raffles, and dancing to the tunes of Melbourne’s best Italian entertainer, Pauly J.

In true community spirit, the event also raised funds to support Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The incredible celebration of culture and connection would not have been possible without the support of the local community and the dedicated team who helped make it all happen. The end of year celebration was truly a collective effort, highlighting the invaluable support of the local community and the unwavering dedication of the team behind the scenes. The collaboration and passion were instrumental in bringing Roses vision to life. Every detail was thoughtfully executed to create and unforgettable experience.

The Italian night was an inclusive celebration that reflected a shared heritage and fostered lasting relationships, showcasing the power of unity and support in enriching lives.

“A heartfelt thankyou and shoutout to Jan, Sharon, Toni, Sonia, Aurora, Mary, Rosetta, Carmel, and Vilma. Without you wonderful women this beautiful, shared experience would not continue to grow, survive and thrive. Your unwavering dedication, creativity, and passion have been the heart and soul of our gatherings, making every event a joyful success,” said Rose.

On a final note Rose says, “I look forward to celebrating our vibrant community and culture and invite you to join ‘Italians on the Peninsula’ Facebook page—you don’t have to be Italian to be a part of the fun, everyone is welcome, no matter where you’re from,” she continued. “It is about celebrating life, love and of course, delicious food so, join us and let’s make memories together”.
