His father, Peter Mawson, was a regular fixture in rock n roll, rockabilly, and hot rod bands, performing at pubs, biker meets, and car shows. Music was never forced upon him; it was woven into the fabric of his daily life. Memories of his parents dancing at gigs and his father playing live music created a deep, visceral connection to sound and rhythm.
Playing guitar wasn’t something Mawson learned in school — it was an organic process. He picked up his instrument through jamming with his father and sister, absorbing music through sound and feeling rather than theory. Early influences like Brian Setzer, Stray Cats, and Status Quo filled his home, shaping a raw, instinctive love for music.
