Trilagy's music is a profound exploration of life's complexities. His songs delve deep into the realities of existence, capturing the hardships, struggles, and the joyous moments that comprise the human experience, especially the intricate dance of relationships. With a penchant for crafting mid to up-tempo tracks, he emphasizes melody and authentic lyrics, blending solid funk with modern urban elements such as trap, hip-hop, and afrobeat-all while staying true to his R&B and soul foundations.
Though he has no formal vocal training, Trilagy has steadily carved out his unique niche in the music industry since he began writing at the tender age of 12. Born to a mother who enjoyed national fame on television in her native Mauritius, it seemed only natural for Terence to pursue a career in music. His influences are as diverse as they are inspiring, spanning from contemporary artists like Roddy Ricch and Chris Brown to legendary figures such as Nipsey Hussle, Jodeci, Nate Dogg, and the iconic Tupac Shakur. He even draws inspiration from heavier genres, citing bands like Korn and Rage Against the Machine for their bold vocal production techniques and experimental soundscapes. Trilagy aspires to be unconventional and innovative, continually seeking inspiration from these artists' creative approaches.
Raised in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne, particularly around Dandenong, Terence grew up in a household filled with music. Saturday mornings were reserved for Mauritian radio, where the sounds of 'Segga' filled the air with an infectious blend of Creole and African influences. When the radio silence fell, the music would continue with the classics of James Brown, The Platters, and Stevie Wonder, creating a rich tapestry of musical influence that would shape his artistic journey.
Initially self-taught in music production out of necessity-frustrated with the limitations of studio time and the unpredictability of producers-Trilagy learned to create intricate, layered compositions and even took on the responsibility of designing his own artwork for releases. His journey began with making beats on a Sony PlayStation 1 before he graduated to studio monitors and Pro Tools, dedicating years to mastering the craft.
Music became a refuge during his high school years, a solace against the bullying and racism he faced. Ironically, it was during this tumultuous time that his passion for music blossomed. His strong spiritual faith and beliefs also provided grounding during these challenging years. A pivotal moment in his musical journey occurred when he heard Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick's single "The Show," which introduced him to the dynamic world of beatboxing and stylistic rap flows.
As a child, Terence was a storyteller at heart, immersing himself in fantasy/sci-fi books and rpg's, video games and basketball. His bedroom walls adorned with Michael Jordan posters, a testament to his admiration for the basketball legend. Countless hours were spent either watching the Chicago Bulls play or honing his skills on local courts.
While basketball was a fervent obsession, it wasn't long before Terence discovered the captivating realms of hip-hop and R&B during high school. Although early influences like Michael Jackson and Prince held a special place in his heart, it was a chance encounter while listening to his friend's headphones that introduced him to Jodeci's album "Diary of a Mad Band." The polished yet raw sound, characterized by crisp harmonies reminiscent of gospel, left an indelible mark on him, igniting his desire to write and produce music.
Devante Swing, a key figure behind Jodeci’s sound, profoundly influenced Trilagy's creative direction and style. After a few years of performing under the moniker 'Kritical, he gained traction in Melbourne's music scene, opening for events at prestigious venues like the Hard Rock Café and Channel 31's "Planet Heaven" showcase. His talent shone brightly at the urban music showcase at St. Kilda's Area 51, leading to a six-month residency that opened doors to various club shows across Melbourne, including the iconic Mothership at Crown Casino and the Mauritian LaFaya festival at Federation Square.

A noteworthy moment in Trilagy's career came when he caught the attention of the renowned hip-hop label Death Row Records. After submitting a demo with no expectations, he was taken aback to find an envelope from the label waiting for him at home. Although he ultimately chose not to pursue the opportunity due to personal circumstances, the acknowledgment was a powerful affirmation of his talent and dedication.
After navigating through various artistic phases, Terence rebranded himself as Trilagy in 2016, releasing his debut single "Without You"— an upbeat homage to heartfelt songwriting and live instrumentation. This was quickly followed by "Remember You," which tackled themes of losing oneself amidst life's challenges, and "System," a politically charged critique addressing societal corruption.
In 2017, Trilagy released his debut EP, "Where I'm At," featuring singles like "You Should Know" and "Tel-lie-vision." The latter music video garnered thousands of views within the first 24 hours, and the singles received regular airplay on Melbourne's Kiss FM, further solidifying his presence in the local music scene. In 2018 Trilagy took an extended break from music to focus on family and life outside of music. In 2019 Trilagy commenced collaborations with local artists and performances as well as further pushing his music to radio through 2019-2020.
'Extraordinary' gaining high praise on Melbourne's iconic Triple RRR radio show 'Highly Melanated' with host Eva Lubulwa quoting 'She struck gold in her email' after hearing the single for the first time.
His subsequent single, "Extraordinary," released in 2020, captured hearts with its funky 90s vibe, celebrating that one-in-a- billion significant other.
2021 saw more collaborations with local artists as well as a standout show at Dandenong's drum theatre for the 'ROSE' (rise of the south-east) event celebrating first nations, Pasifika and African communities.
In 2022, Trilagy shifted his style towards afrobeat with the release of "Only God Knows," with the accompanying music video debut on Channel 31's "Talking Urban."
Some of his previous live performances continued to impress, opening for legendary acts such as The Outlaws and R&B icons like 112. He graced stages at notable venues, including Crown Casino and Federation Square, and participated in cultural events like the African Music and Cultural Festival as well as a guest performance in Adelaide for the Liberian music awards.
Trilagy faced a significant personal loss in 2023 with the passing of his father, a heart- wrenching experience that prompted him to put all projects on hold for a year. Yet, fate had other plans. In 2024, a mutual friend reconnected him with the local music scene, leading him to perform at several live shows, including the Evo Festival at Melbourne show grounds and the Real Ones national tour.

By 2025, Trilagy made a triumphant return to television, debuting his highly anticipated single and music video "Never Fail" on Channel 31's "Talking Urban."
Reflecting on his journey, Terence recalls a conversation with a former touring manager who warned him about the struggles of navigating the music industry without management. Trilagy took this to heart, using it as motivation to persist despite the challenges. He believes that unfulfilled talent is one of life's greatest tragedies- a guiding principle that fuels his passion for creating music.
With several new singles in the works, Trilagy continues to experiment with blending genres, crafting songs that explore the nuances of life, love, and loss, all while remaining grounded and humble in his artistic pursuit. His journey is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of music-an inspiring reminder that talent, when nurtured and shared, can resonate deeply within the human spirit.
